What are the requirements for the filters used in cement manufacturing?
Recently various upgradation take place in designing dust collection system. Pulse jet dust collector can handle 30 g/cu m. In cement application dust load is very high up to 130 g/cu m. So pre-collector like cyclone are used to reduce the dust load in dust collector. Now combined pre-collector with pulsejet dust collector is more effective with down flow dirty air inlets. The selection of filter fabric to achieve the lowest emission level as well as low pressure drop and temperature resistance has to be done by the manufacturer of the needle felt fabric. As per application demand size of fiber selection required (viz micro fibre or standard fiber or the combination) mixture of two fibre for chemical compatibility, strength and temperature resistance. surface coating, PTFE lamination or micro fiber on dust side.
What is the range of filters?
As the process hot gas (>150oC) contain high pH towards alkali, PTFE fabric, polyamide mix with PTFE, meta aramid, sometime aramid, polyamide with PTFE membrane are used.
Process dust (<150oC) polyester with micro fibre construction on dust side is more feasible. For coal milling - mixture of PAN-homopolymer and polyester is more preferable.

Peoples want to make ESP and dust collector in combination to upgrade the emission in ESP. But instead of making hybrid, ESP should be retrofitted with pulsejet dust collector in efficient manner.
What are the trends in filter media for bag filters?
People still buy filter bag on L1 price with compromising performance leading to high maintenance part reducing the production, wastage of money by changing few bags, compromising leakage as well as emission and more power intensive. Purchaser has to deal on performance based quality with clauses to make it real economic investment for spares.
