Lafarge Poland’s Malogoszcz Cement Plant enters new stage of modernisation
On 16 September 2021, in the presence of representatives of the local government and public institutions, the foundation stone was ceremonially laid, which symbolically began the construction of a modern rotary kiln for burning clinker. The ceremony was accompanied by the reading of the foundation act, which, together with the cornerstone, was symbolically embedded in a specially prepared concrete plinth made in the concrete laboratory operating in the Malogoszcz Cement Plant. The event was attended, among others, by Mayor of the Town and Commune of Malogoszcz Mariusz Piotrowski, Chairman of the City Council Michal Borowski, Provincial Inspector of Environmental Protection Witold Bruzda, Regional Director of Environmental Protection Aldona Sobolak. Among the guests there were also representatives of the Krakow Technology Park, which is a partner of the investment. On the part of Lafarge, there were the President of Lafarge in Poland, Xavier Guesnu, Vice-President Stanislaw Sobczyk, Director of the Malogoszcz Cement Plant Jacek Patyk and Director of the Lafarge Cement Plant Modernisation Project in Malogoszcz, Krzysztof Byczynski. The ceremony was also attended by present and former cement plant workers. The investment, worth over EUR 100 million, combines a significant economic dimension with the achievement of environmental goals. The aim of the project is to reduce the emissivity by increasing the energy efficiency of the plant. The modernisation will enable the reduction of CO2 emissions by approx. 20%.
