After 2020, company-to-consumer business will increase
I started cement dealership in 2005 and serve the market of south Bengaluru. We deal with the brands of Ramco and Vasavadatta, 70 per cent and 30 per cent, respectively. About 90 per cent of our business is in retail market, especially individual house construction. We also manufacture cement-based products which include cement ring, water tub, pillar, window, cement brick, fence poles, starter box, etc. I use only 53 grade cement at my factory. For my factory the consumption is 80 tonne of cement, while 100-150 tonne is being sold in the open market. The service godown is 30 km away, where hooks are being used to handle cement bags. I don´t use hooks at my shop. Though monsoon has started, price has not gone down after the start of monsoon. Rate of Ramco is Rs 360-370 per bag in wholesale market. Karnataka has the highest sales tax among all states. GST is good for traders. Merger of cement companies is good for business as it is difficult to deal with many companies. Also there are more paper work and more stocks to maintain. So less companies to deal with is easy option. Also, with so many brands, customer gets confused. I also deal in sand, bricks, asbestos sheets, and I am comfortable with the business. After 2020, I expect the company to consumer business will increase.
