Lafarge Africa’s sales rise as profit drops

LafargeHolcim subsidiary Lafarge Africa recorded sales worth $412 million in the first nine months of 2020, up by 13 per cent year-on-year from $365 million in the corresponding period of 2019. Its profit for the period was $68.8 million, down by 1 per cent from $69.6 million.

Chief executive officer Khaled El Dokani said that the company proved resilient to the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak at the start of the period due to its “turnaround and cost-reduction strategy, and the divestment of the South African business.”
