When I started the dealership in 2002, there were only 3-4 brands, which has gone up to 15 now. On cement price, right now the pressure is on companies to maintain prices. In the last 15 years, there has been nominal increase in the price of cement compared to other items of construction, though the companies are trying hard to increase the price. Today, the product is not sold merely on brand name, one has to really work hard for selling his product. Companies like Bharathi, ACC, Ambuja, etc are very aggressive in the market. They carefully listen, accept our suggestions, come out with good schemes. I cover Nashik city and some part of the outskirts. My monthly sale is 1,500 tonne. I also sell cement in non-trade market and my share is around 25 per cent. About 40 per cent of my sale is to retailers, in which 25 per cent is over my own counter. The volume of business has not increased as compared to last year. Real estate business is very slow. Particularly at Nashik, builders are finding it tough to continue with projects they announced earlier. We are eagerly waiting for GST to be rolled out. It will be easy to deal with the companies located outside the state once GST is in place. I think the quantum taxation will go down, especially when we procure cement from outside the state.
