Since 2011, there is a downward trend in sales

- Kamlesh B Desai, Proprietor, Choice Buildmat

We have been dealers in cement since 1986 and since 1993, I am the Proprietor of Choice Buildmat, dealers in Navi Mumbai region of Maharashtra. Currently we are dealers of only ACC cement. The sales depend on the demand which varies throughout the year. Demand picks up during summer and will be down in rainy season. But there was an overall downturn in sales after 2011. We keep three grades of cement: 43, 53 and PPC, out of which, PPC sells the most, about 95 per cent. The percentage of sales across the sectors is: 20 per cent in projects, 10 per cent goes to small contractors, and the remaining 70 per cent is in retail. We keep a one-time stock of 100 tonne. On an average we sell 2,700 tonne per month. ACC is very supportive in providing stock and supplying cement according to demand. Depending on the market demand, the company provides at least 80 per cent of the requirement immediately. Since we are close to the ACC depot which has a capacity of 25,000 tonne, we can easily get cement from the depot as per demand. Customers are satisfied with the product as ACC cement is far better in quality.
