First Claudius Peters PACPAL Palletizer for Bolivia

The Spanish consortium, UTE ORURO, awarded a contract to Claudius Peters Projects for the delivery of a new packing and palletizing plant for a new cement plant in Oruro (Bolivia).

UTE ORURO is a consortium consisting of Sacyr Industrial and Imasa Ingenieria y Proyectos S.A. They received the order together with ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions. The final customer, Empresa Publica Productiva Cementos de Bolivia, is a state-run cement producer who had planned a clinker capacity of 3000 t/day for the new plant.

Due to the maintenance friendly and very energy efficient equipment the customer decided to select a machine from the PACPAL product group. Furthermore, an optimal plant arrangement which requires low space for the packing and palletizer building was important for the client.

Scope of supply

  • The rotary feeder, Claudius Peters PACPAL Roto Fill with 12 filling modules for a capacity of 3,600 bags/hr
  • The automatic bag applicator with a cassette magazine of 5 m length, appr. 1,125 bags
  • The spillage return transport consisting of two trough screw conveyors
  • The palletizer Claudius Peters PACPAL Palletizer 5000 for 3,600 bags/h with a slip sheet system for handling of palletless packages.
  • The big bag filling station for one loop big bags with a weight of 500 kg up to 2000 kg per big bag.
  • A control system made by Rockwell was used.

Advantages of the PACPAL Technology

  • Modular concept:

The PACPAL Roto fill has a modular concept. This design is used for more than 25 years and is permanently developed further. The main advantage of the modular design is the independent and self-optimizing filling process for each filling turbine. The operation of the modules is not coupled and each filling module is responsible for the own filling process and the weighing of the bag. Therefore, a high availability of the packing machine is always guaranteed, even in case a filling module fails. Another advantage of this technology is a quick enlargement to increase the packing capacity. The replacement of an individual module can be done within short and optimizes maintenance work at the equipment.

  • Upstream dedusting on PACPAL Roto Fill:

The Claudius Peters upstream dedusting system allows a trouble-free and nearly dust-free filling process. The dust which arises when filling the cement into the bag is sucked upwards to the main filter by means of suitable "dedusting channels". The low quantity of remaining cement which occurs inevitably during rejection and finishing of the filling process is collected in the spillage funnel and fed into the spillage return system by gravity. It is not necessary to suck the cement below the packing plant and facilitates the design of the spillage return system considerably since no depression exists in the spillage funnels (discharge units such as e. g. double pendulum flaps are not necessary). This arrangement allows a maintenance friendly and therefore a cost-effective operation for the customer

  • Easy access and easy maintenance

The advantages of the PACPAL technology can be seen from the example of the PACPAL Roto Fill. A modular design, independently working filling systems with corresponding weighing electronics as well as an optimum access to all components allows a quick and simple maintenance of all necessary wear and spare parts. Furthermore, we ensure a simple and user friendly control of the individual components and the complete packing and palletizer plant. Claudius Peters´ PACPAL philosophy is to have a simple and comprehensive structure of the machine technology and high technical perfection and know how. The operator and user understand the PACPAL machines and control all important functions on his own.

  • Supply and design of wear and spare parts

Claudius Peters gives up a coding of the individual spare and wear parts, hence, the client has the possibility to purchase these parts quickly and efficiently. Much attention is given to a simple and functional design. A complicated and high production expenses for components prevent a local supply and increase considerably the operating costs of a plant. The PACPAL program offers the possibility to replace easily the wear and spare parts. The Claudius Peters After Sales and the Spare Part Service offers any support for the exchange of spare parts.

  • Quick and Efficient Engineering

Due to special engineering programs such as e. g. engineering base, Claudius Peters is in a position to prepare all necessary documentation in a very short time. These are mainly the flow sheets with all necessary process data, motor and instrumentation lists as well as all additional information which are necessary to develop a complete packing and palletizing process. The advantage of Claudius Peters´customers is a quick execution of all important project steps after placing the order.

Conclusion
The supply of the packing and palletizer plant for Bolivia comprises all relevant core technologies which are necessary for the realization of this task. One special challenge is the altitude which is 4,000 m AMSL. This requires special motors and special electrical switching and control elements which are suitable for this altitude. The shown advantages of the PACPAL technology ensure a trouble-free and cost efficient as well as low maintenance operation of the plant. Claudius Peters will do his utmost to meet customer´s expectations. The delivery of the plant components is scheduled for 2017.
