Govt's nod to India Cements for expansion
India Cements, South India's largest cement maker by volume, has received a nod to go ahead for expanding capacities at its existing two plants from the Union Environment Ministry.
India Cements sought the Terms of Reference (TOR) approval for expanding capacities in Padaveedu in Salem district to expand its Sankaridurg plant and in Dalavoi in Ariyalur district. The Ministry approved the TRO of India Cements on April 25 and April 26 which will enable the company to carry out steps for expanding capacities.
The company officials maintained that this is only a process and nothing has been finalised vis-a-vis expansion of capacities. The company is getting the required approvals in advance.
