MoEF to decide on compensation

With regard to the gross violation of the Forest and Conservation Act, 1980 by cement companies in the Jaintia hills, the Ministry of Environment and Forest will decide on the amount of compensation that these cement companies have to pay as per the said Act, the State Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsong told the Meghalaya assembly. "Action is already under process as per provision provided by the FC Act of which would be sent to the MoEF who will take a call on how much these industrial units have to pay as compensation," Prestone Tynsong said while replying to a cut motion, 'Style and functioning of the forest department' moved by the HSPDP legislator from Nongkrem."
