New Government should speed up eco-clearances, say cement makers
Eco-clearances should be sped up by New Government The new government to be formed at the Centre should put in place the speedy clearances and an industry-friendly regulatory regime, according to the Cement Manufacturers´ Association (CMA). Environmental clearance, simple norms for transportation of solid waster and reasonable pollution standards are expected from the new government. There is a need to align pollution norms with local-specific issues and raw material requirements, he added. About 20-30 million tonnes of new capacity could be added to the industry this year taking the capacity to over 270 mt. The co-generation of power through waste heat recovery (WHR) system should be given renewable energy status.
