Hubli turns to AAC blocks to ease construction burden
As prices of steel, cement, jelly and other raw materials are skyrocketing, construction industry in Hubli is turning to light weight aerated concrete blocks for its advantages. The blocks are lighter, more fire-resistant and a better insulator and autoclaved. The construction industry, one of the booming sectors in Hubli, is now turning to these blocks. Builders in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore have already adopting these blocks in their constructions.
For the first time, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks are being used in construction works in Hubli after Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. The buildings constructed with AAC blocks are also known as environmentally friendly buildings and these buildings don't require curing and plastering. One such building is coming up opposite Unkal Park in Srinagar Circle in Hubli.
Ajit Pai, director of an under-construction hotel, said they had chosen these blocks as they can save water which is otherwise used for curing. Also, there is no need of plastering of walls, he said.
