UltraTech to complete Rs 20 bn project by March 2015

According to an official statement, UltraTech Cement plans to complete its 2.90 million tonne per annum (mn tpa) expansion project at its Rajasthan plant by March 2015.

The Rs 2,000 crore project includes, among other things, setting up of two grinding units at Aditya Cement Works in Rajasthan.

The statement shows that the Aditya Birla Group firm is implementing projects across many of its locations. The company's clinker capacity has increased to 41.80 mn tpa and that of cement to 53.90 mn tpa with the completion of some of the recent projects.

The recently completed projects include the clinkerisation plant at Rawan, Chhattisgarh with a capacity of 3.30 mn tpa and grinding unit at Hotgi, Maharashtra having a capacity of 1.55 mn tpa.

The company has also increased its cement grinding capacity at Gujarat plant to 0.60 mn tpa, bulk terminal at Cochin, Kerala and Wall care putty plant at Katni, Madhya Pradesh.

The firm may complete the clinkerisation project of 3.30 mn tpa in Karnataka in first quarter of 2013-14.

The statement also said that with the commissioning of the existing projects under implementation and Aditya Birla Group's expansion, UltraTech's cement capacity will stand augmented to 64.45 mn tpa.
