We have been in the cement dealers business from that last 30 years and are going on steadily. We are dealers for UltraTech Cement and distributors for Jindal Steel and we cover Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. I am a civil engineer and am focusing on growing our business.
We basically deal in different types of building materials such as steel, pipes, plates, welding rods, angles, flats, CRC sheets, colour-coated sheets, etc. We have a range of material except sand and gravel type products.
The sluggish economy, shrinking profit margins and fluctuating prices have put cement dealers in a tight spot. There is hardly any infrastructural growth taking place. Most of the projects that were initiated in the past are lying half-built. Despite the slowdown, though, we have managed to grow our business.I am not feeling the crunch and we are growing well even in this sluggish market. If you have confidence in your product, then you can sell it confidently.
The product quality has to be unquestionable, that is the most important criteria for us. Secondly, I look at the branding efforts and market demand for the product. It is a matter of how well you maintain relations with the consumers. You can grow even in this sluggish market.
