Conveyor belt protection
Conveyor belt protection
Some products, like cement, tend to clump during processing in the kiln. Since large clumps or clinkers retain more heat, they pose a thermal hazard. Rubber conveyors often have a temperature upper limit of 400-¦F/200-¦C. If the hot clinker heats up the belt above its maximum tolerance limit, then the belt melts leading to expensive damage and process downtime. Hence, it is important to track the belt temperature and mark any hot-spots in the conveying system. The Williamson sensor is a tool to do just that.

The sensor monitors belt temperature on a continuous basis and raises an alarm if it crosses the prescribed value. It is also useful to lookout for hot-spots under the rotary kiln tires. It can identify a hot product regardless of the background temperature of the measured area and can view the belt through heavy steam and moderate dust without any loss of data.
