Semen Gresik aims at 30 mn t/yr cement by 2015
Semen Gresik, Indonesia's largest cement maker by output, aims to boost cement production to 30 million tonne per year by 2015, from 20 million tonne currently, said Dwi Sutjipto president director, Semen Gresik. The comapy plans to set aside Rp 6.3 trillion ($700 million) in funds until 2015 to expand its business. "The funds will be needed to increase annual production capacity to 30.5 million tonne in 2015 from 20 million tonne in 2011," said Dwi Sutjipto following a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI at the parliament building. The firm plans to build two factories, on Sumatra and Java islands, costing roughly $350 million each, to achieve the target. The company may seek an additional coal supply of 2 million tonne to meet the requirement. The company's current coal usage amounts to 3 million tonne.
