Cement project of Sephaku proceeding as per schedule
Construction on the Aganang cement production facility of Sephaku Cement, near Lichtenburg is underway as per schedule. Construction of the plant was commenced late last year. The investment cost of the plant is R 2.3 billion and it will have a production capacity of around 2.5 million mt/year. The first batch of cement from the plant is scheduled to be brought out in early September 2013 following the commissioning of the plant's clinker in August 2013. Operations at the site will comprise of limestone mining and chemical processing of raw materials for production of clinker. The latest European technology will be used by the plant. The company hopes that with the commencement of operations, its turnover will increase and it will be in a better position to serve the domestic market which has seen a rapid rise in demand over the years.
